The North B Street Improvement Initiative is a collaborative process that began on February 4th, 2014.  Under the leadership of the San Mateo City Council and City Manager’s Office, the initiative has involved community stakeholders in a process to improve the safety and cleanliness of the corridor while enhancing its physical appearance and creating a sense of identity. Successes of this initiative include:

  • Increasing collaboration between the San Mateo Police Department and North B Street merchants
  • Extending the Downtown SummerFest, sponsored by the DSMA to Tilton Avenue on June 21st & 22nd!
  • Developing the initial design for the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk, street trees and bicycle racks,
  • The opening of three new neighborhood-serving businesses

These are only a few of the improvements identified through the North B Street Improvement Initiative. Please attend the celebration on June 10th to learn more about what’s to come and celebrate the successes of this important community project.
