The North B Street Improvement Initiative is a collaborative process that began on February 4th, 2014. Under the leadership of the San Mateo City Council and City Manager’s Office, the initiative has involved community stakeholders in a process to improve the safety and cleanliness of the corridor while enhancing its physical appearance and creating a sense of identity. Successes of this initiative include:
- Increasing collaboration between the San Mateo Police Department and North B Street merchants
- Extending the Downtown SummerFest, sponsored by the DSMA to Tilton Avenue on June 21st & 22nd!
- Developing the initial design for the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk, street trees and bicycle racks,
- The opening of three new neighborhood-serving businesses
These are only a few of the improvements identified through the North B Street Improvement Initiative. Please attend the celebration on June 10th to learn more about what’s to come and celebrate the successes of this important community project.
The North B Street Improvement Initiative Map has been translated into Spanish! Share it and spread the word about North B Street.
And remember, on May 9 @ Peruvian Fusion (time TBD), the City of San Mateo will present the collected data and go through possible solutions and implementation steps to help realize the recommendations given during the Focus Groups. This meeting is open to the public.
